1.PRECAUTIONS FOR STEERING LOCK SYSTEM
  1. If the engine stops running while the vehicle is in motion, do not open any door until the vehicle stops moving completely. Otherwise, the steering lock may be activated.

  2. The engine may not start running again after the engine has been started and stopped repeatedly at short intervals. In such cases, wait for at least 10 seconds and then restart the engine.

    HINT:
When the steering lock motor overheats due to the steering wheel being locked and unlocked repeatedly, steering lock is prohibited for a short period.

  3. The steering lock is not activated when the battery runs out.

  4. After replacing the steering lock actuator assembly (steering lock ECU), perform the key ID code registration.

  5. After replacing the steering lock actuator assembly (steering lock ECU), confirm the lock/unlock operation of the steering lock.
    Operation Confirmation
    Lock
With the engine switch off, open and close any door.
    Unlock
Turn the engine switch from off to on (ACC) or on (IG).

  6. If checking for DTCs of the entry and start system function or if checking the Data List with the engine switch off, make sure that the driver door is open.

    HINT:
When the engine switch is off, the power management control ECU*1 or power source control ECU*2 may be in sleep mode. If the ECU is in this sleep mode, it will not be possible for the intelligent tester to communicate with it. Opening and closing the driver door will cause the ECU to exit sleep mode.
